Great old J-50 from a transitional year. Both the pickguard and the number of frets changed in 1954--this one's got the new, longer pickguard, but still has only 19 frets. Nice shape, just a couple of small repaired cracks on the top near the waist, very nice crazing, Schaller tuners, non-original compensated saddle, refret. Endpin hole is slightly enlarged from an old pickup, now removed. Overall very nice condition, big booming bright voice, good action. Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck, brazilian rosewood fretboard and bridge. Comes with a later Gibson hardshell case in good condition.
