Our Tune of the Day for Tuesday, June 26 2012 is “Son of a Preacher Man” by Ike and Tina Turner from the 40th Anniversary Box set Edition of The Rolling Stones Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out. It’s absolutely killer live Stones from 1969 and we’re glad they saw fit to include B.B. King’s and Ike and Tina’s sets in the boxed set. We’ll save Dusty Springfield’s version of this for another day (one of the most bitchin’ bass lines ever) and add that Memphis and Muscle Shoals soul runs deep on both Sticky Fingers and Exile which would follow shortly.
