TOTD/Memorial Day Edition: Funnily enough, Mr Champale was not into Superchunk back in their heyday in the ’90s. This was despite the fact that music critics, friends and acquaintances who’s opinion Mr Champale both valued and trusted endorsed this band wholeheartedly. I guess I just didn’t have the time to check out and get to know Superchunk. I vegged on it. Fast forward to a morning commute last week, Mr Champale’s car radio tuned to 91.5 FM when this song comes on. Mr Champale fumbles for his iPhone to Shazam it and, lo and behold, it’s Superchunk. From 1994’s EP “Driveway To Driveway,” this slow-burner pushes all of Mr Champale’s musical pleasure buttons. Turns out I liked Superchunk all along. It just took me 18 years to figure it out.
