Our Tune of the Day for Friday, May 11 2012 is “Without Expression” by Terry Reid which originally appeared on 1968’s bang, bang you’re Terry Reid. Terry is probably best known today for being Jimmy Page’s first choice as lead singer for his New Yardbirds. Instead, Reid wanted to focus on his solo career so recommended some lad from Birmingham he knew of by the name of Robert Plant. The rest of that is history. Being left behind in the dustbin of rock and roll could have/should have/would haves is a big shame because Terry Reid has a hell of a set of pipes. “Without Expression” represents my flat-out favorite rock vocal performance of all time. Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Terry Reid.
